Tapping Away the Pain Body

April 13th, 2008 | Category: EFT

Many of you are studying A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle on your own, or through Oprah Winfrey’s webcast series every Monday night.  One of the most useful concepts in the book is the notion of the pain body that each of us carries within ourselves, which can become triggered and take control of our behavior even against our better judgement.  That pain body is not directly accessible by way of our conscious minds.  It is irrational, yet extremely stubborn.  Tolle says the pain body seeks pain because it will die without it.  An interesting theory, you may be thinking, but what can I do about it?  We usually try as hard as we can to avoid the discomfort the pain body presents.  However, one very important technique put forward by Tolle is to be present when the pain body is triggered.  Observe but don’t identify with the thoughts that emerge when this is happening.  Perhaps an even more active way to deal with the pain body is to use EFT.  This entails focusing on the pain for a moment and tapping the acupressure points in a sequence as  EFT teaches us.  Because the pain body is only an energy field in the first place, “tapping through” to clear that energy makes perfect sense.  And it is my experience that it works amazingly well.

There is a new documentary movie on EFT, called Try It On Everything.  I have provided a link to the trailer for that movie on my Resources page (found in the sidebar to the right).  I believe that if you watch the trailer you will want to see the documentary in its entirety.  It is available as a DVD for purchase.  If you have been wanting to try EFT, but have held back for some reason, this just might be what it takes to inspire you to give it a try.  If you do not want to get coaching in EFT from a trained practitioner, this is all you need to perform it on yourself in the comfort of your own home.  If you get the DVD and have an interesting story to tell about how it did or didn’t help you, I would like to hear from you.  You can leave a comment at the end of this post.  Good luck on your new adventure.
