Dissolving PTSD with Energy Psychology Techniques

November 09th, 2008 | Category: EFT, Energy psychology, PTSD, Traumatic memories, war veterans

If you are a person who needs to see it to believe it, I recommend Gary Craig’s new video showing experienced EFT therapists working with veterans who have severely debilitating post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  The rough cut of this video can be found at: www.emofree.com/splash/video_vets.asp  The relief experienced by the people portrayed in the video after being treated with these techniques is plainly visible in their demeanor, speech, and body language.  Particularly striking to me was the vet who said he had thought he was going to have to re-enlist, because he didn’t feel he could live in any environment other than combat, he had been so devastated.

These men could not properly process their memories and couldn’t escape them.  They were engaged in full-scale avoidance of anything that reminded them of the war, but would get blindsided by flashbacks and fears nonetheless.  They had been through years of conventional therapy, hypnosis, medication and social programs to help them re-assimilate into normal society, but these interventions proved to be impotent against the traumatic sequelae of war.  Using EFT, they made huge changes and found lasting relief.

Working with PTSD can be taken as the ultimate challenge to any methodology that makes claims of treating trauma, phobias and anxiety.  The process that lays down traumatic memories, fears, and avoidant patterns of behavior in an individual’s system is stronger, more threatening and more persistent in war than anywhere else in human experience.  But it is the same process that takes place in everyday traumas, albeit on a smaller scale.  If we can treat problems of this magnitude with EFT and other energy psychology techniques, we can probably treat most other anxiety-based symptoms and disorders.  Please look for yourself: www.emofree.com/splash/video_vets.asp
